Has The New Yorker gone too far?

Posted by doublec on July 14, 2008

Has The New Yorker gone too far? Some people believe the latest cover art has stepped over the line in it’s portrayal of Barack and Michelle Obama. However, Michelle Malkin believes, opposed to views held by Jesse Jackson, that Obama needs grow a pair!  Is he simply whining or does the cover truly step over the line? Check out her article here: Grow a pair, Obama

I’m Back!

Posted by doublec on June 22, 2008

Wow, it has been forever since I’ve posted something to my blog, but, I’m back. I’ll be honest, I don’t know how consistent I’ll be, but I am going to try my best to keep things up to date.

Until I have something I really want to write about, I would like to share with you a few pieces of my artwork. Yes, I created these myself.  Feel free to comment and enjoy!

The first picture is called “City on a hill.” It was inspired by Matthew 5:14:

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

The second picture is one I drew at work.  I placed a $20 bill on my desk and tried to sketch the picture of Andrew Jackson. How did I do?

This is mine…

Below is the actual picture of Andrew Jackson on the new $20.00. No I did not scan a twenty dollar bill, the picture was actually found on GOOGLE.

Mississippi Braves Manager Has On Field Meltdown

Posted by doublec on June 5, 2007

Phillip Wellman

Wellman the Wildman

This is old news, however, it is still an entertaining story.  Phillip Wellman, minor-league manager of the Mississippi Braves, went crazy during the third inning of Friday night’s (June 2nd) game against the Chattanooga Lookouts.  The Braves manager was so mad that he began throwing bases and make-shift rosin grenades.  On Monday (June 4th) the Braves suspended Wellman, the first year Double-A manager, for three games for his antics in Friday’s game.

If you want to see Wellman’s entire meltdown, go to Google Video and type in “Mississippi Braves Manger.”

Cross

The Shape Of Faith - by Nathan Bierma

The Shape Of Faith explores the origins of the sign of the cross — the movement of the hand over the body, up, down, then side-to-side — from it’s beginning as an act of faith by early church believers to it’s current incarnation. The article helps the reader move beyond thinking this practice is just “a Catholic thing!”

Myths About Why Radicals Hate The West

Liberal Myths about Radical Islam
by Dinesh D’Souza

As the Pelosi Democrats attempt to steer the debate on Iraq and the war on terror away from President Bush’s approach, it is useful to examine the premises behind the liberal Democratic understanding of the war on terror. So far the Democrats have been successful in faulting the president’s admittedly-flawed approach. But there is no advantage in trading one bad model for another. Here, then, is my critique of some of the major elements of the liberal explanation for “why they hate us.”

To Multitask Or Not To Multitask

Posted by doublec on March 19, 2007

In a recent Time article, Suze Orman, gave her reason for doing one thing at a time.  Instead of multitasking, she believes in attacking her work projects much like a racehorse. “They come out of the gate with blinders on and go for the finish line.”  She believes that, “people who multitask…do everything to mediocrity at best.”
